Technical Roles


  • Setting Out Engineer

    You'll set out and determine the location for infrastructural installations, both above and below ground, and will apply designs and plans to mark out the site. You'll also share responsibility for site security, health and safety and the organisation and supervision of material and human resources

  • Bid Manager

    Responsible for creating and overseeing a bid – a detailed, costed, persuasive proposal – on behalf of one organisation to gain a business contract or offer of work from another. A bid manager's role is to ensure that bids are successful at a price at which their organisation can make a profit.

  • Planner

    A construction professional who is concerned with developing time plans on construction projects to ensuring that the project is completed safely, on time and within budget. A site-based Planner will usually report into either the Project Manager or Project Director for project delivery.

  • Estimator

    Responsible for calculating the costs of a project before work commences, covering everything from materials, labour, equipment hire, transport costs and everything in between. The duties of an estimator may include calculating how much a proposed project will cost.

  • Design Manager

    Sometimes known as design coordinators or design and build managers. Design managers coordinate all design matters relating to a project, helping to ensure that the multi-disciplinary teams building the project work together smoothly and that everything is delivered on time and within budget.

  • Senior Quantity Surveyor & Quantity Surveyor

    Full contract responsibility for both design and build work stages. End to end reporting to commercial management from procurement to final accounts. Providing detailed cost management services direct to a variety of clients. Quantity surveyors are responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. They manage the costs on a construction project and help to ensure that the construction project is completed within its projected budget.

  • Document Controller

    Maintain project documents to ensure accurate information is distributed throughout an organisation, on time, to the people who need it. In the construction industry, document controllers work with technical documents like blueprints and reports.


Management Roles


  • Contracts Manager

    Construction contracts managers oversee projects from the start through to completion, ensuring that work is completed on time and within budget. As a Contracts Manager, you could be working on a wide variety of projects, from office developments to houses or schools and colleges to road and rail schemes. A contracts manager is sometimes in charge of a single scheme, or may look after several smaller ones. At all times, they are the first point of contact for members of the public, clients, site managers and sub-contractors for as long as the contract lasts.

  • Project Manager

    Oversee the planning and delivery of construction projects to ensure that work is completed on time and within budget. Organise logistics, delegate work and keep track of spending.

  • Site Manager

    Responsible for ensuring that a construction project is completed on time and within budget. Alternative job titles for site managers include construction manager, project manager and site agent. Site managers work on construction sites and work often begins just before construction.

  • Assistant Site Manager

    As an Assistant Site Manager, you will support the Site Manager to successfully deliver projects within the business. Key responsibilities are to ensure all site operatives are trained to use any plant and equipment and they are using it safely and for its correct purpose at all times.
